Diversity of Business Card Shapes

Today, the shape and size of a business card are another way to stand out and attract the attention of partners and clients, emphasizing individuality. There are several main types of business card formats:

  1. Standard rectangular business cards.

  2. Business cards with rounded corners.

  3. Non-standard business cards.

The first two options are widely used by companies, while unusual shapes can draw attention at events and leave a lasting impression.

The most common size for rectangular business cards in Eastern Europe is 50x90 mm. In Europe, a format similar to the size of a credit card is often used - 55x85 mm, in America - 89x51 mm, and in Japan - 91x55 mm.

Business cards with rounded corners give them an elegant look and maintain their attractiveness for a long time. They can also be easily printed on various types of cardboard. Rounded corners go well with modern fonts, smooth lines, and concise logos. Business cards with only one or a few corners cut off, for example, opposite corners, look particularly impressive.

For maximum practicality, it is recommended to choose the European format, as it easily fits into a cardholder or wallet, ensuring long-lasting attractiveness. To stand out from competitors and increase recognition, consider using non-standard business card shapes. This can include unusual shapes (such as squares or triangles) or the use of unconventional materials (wood, leather, metal, etc.) or various effects (embossing, die-cutting, combination of matte and glossy surfaces, etc.).

Square business cards typically have dimensions of 60x60 mm and attract attention even with minimalist designs. Their compact size allows them to be used in product packaging, as labels, or coupons. They are smaller and lighter than standard rectangular business cards, so it is advisable to use heavy-duty cardboard to give them more weight and solidity.

Folded business cards, whether double-fold or accordion-fold, vertical or horizontal, allow you to include a large amount of information about your company's products or services. They can accommodate photographs, additional business details, and the benefits of collaboration. The last page can be made detachable for use as a discount coupon if it suits your business and product.

The shape matters. Unique business card shapes contribute to easy memorization and can vividly convey the essence of your business. For example, a business card in the shape of a comb or scissors may be associated with a hair salon or barber shop, while one in the shape of a washing machine could represent a laundry or dry cleaning service. A wrench could emphasize expertise in auto repair or a workshop.

However, this aspect is not relevant for electronic business cards, as they are transferred as contacts with additional information, photos of the caller, and other details directly into the phone's address book.
